5 TIPS TO HELP CREATE A GREAT HIGHLIGHT VIDEO
5 TIPS TO HELP CREATE A GREAT HIGHLIGHT VIDEO
While you have some time to self reflect at home, take the time to create a really good highlight video. A highlight video provides coaches with a glimpse into how you play and can help a coach determine if they want to watch you or not in person.
As we are all unsure about what summer recruiting looks like it’s important to find ways to stay connected with coaches and stay relevant. Over the next few weeks, I will be providing some helpful hints for players to do while stuck at home!
I hope you are all staying safe & healthy. We will be back together soon!

5 TIPS TO CREATING A UP TO DATE HIGHLIGHT VIDEO:
1-DO FOCUS ON SHORT GOOD CLIPS:
The average time should be 2-3 minutes overall. It can be longer, but coaches will decide within the first few clips if they want to continue to watch or not.
2-MAKE THE FIRST CLIPS MEMORABLE:
You want the first clips to be your best!
If your fast-show speed in transition
If your a goal scorer-show catching and finishing, or dodging hard to cage and finishing
If you are an aggressive defender- show take away checks, ground balls, and the ability to play good solid defense.
3--HIGHLIGHT YOURSELF
Use an arrow or a circle to highlight who you are! Again, make it short and quick you want to use the time to highlight your skillset!
4-UPLOAD
Along with uploading to sports recruits, connect lax, and emailing it out- you should also post it on YouTube, Vimeo. Instagram or Twitter- can be used to highlight 1-2 really good clips. Sometimes coaches will google your name so it’s a good idea to have had the videos up as many places as possible.
5-IDENTIFY YOURSELF-
Use the first few seconds to introduce yourself- name, club, high school, position, GPA.
