While you have some time to self reflect at home, take the time to create a really good highlight video. A highlight video provides coaches with a glimpse into how you play and can help a coach determine if they want to watch you or not in person.
All these conversations create new ideas in my head. I left the tournament and I decided to put together a list of the top six traits that college coaches look for when recruiting (in my opinion!). Included in the post you will find some ways to improve each skill set!
When I began coaching college I was surprised to see the number of families showing up to campus visits kind of in the dark. Happy to be there, but no real understanding of what it all meant.
The process should be looked at as a journey. There is no “one size fits all” product that can perfectly match you to the school of your dreams, however, I hope to help provide tips, tactics, and education to ease the pain. Journeys are marathons, not sprints.
s a coach, I always felt more prepared for opponents the more film I watched. Video helps me recognize offensive and defensive patterns, ultimately creating a scout to share with the team. It also helps our coaching staff prepare practice, assesses individual skills, assesses team strengths and areas of improvement. It has greatly helped me improve as a coach.
As a player, I learned to fine-tune my skill set. I also learned what I needed to adjust in order to take my game to the next level. It helped build my confidence by slowing the game down and allowing myself to just play.
In this post, I will be discussing “The 6 reasons all athletes should be watching video”
