Preparation Breeds Confidence...
ASK CRYSTI
Q: HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY MENTAL TOUGHNESS AND CONFIDENCE? I USE TO BE MENTALLY TOUGHER BUT AM GOING THROUGH A SLUMP.
Preparation breeds confidence.
I am so fortunate to work with athletes of all levels, throughout the country. 99% of my clients at some point in their career struggle with confidence and ask me how to improve it. Sports are 90% mental-however we train 95% of our time on the physical part. As coaches and athletes, we are missing a huge opportunity to improve both as people and players.
True confidence — is rooted in self-awareness and the knowledge there is always room to improve. Confidence comes from doing the work (outside of practice). Every team in the country has 2 hours to practice… what are you doing with the other 22?
Confidence and comfort comes from knowing you have prepared and put in the extra work EACH AND EVERYDAY. The feeling that you know to your core, you have done all you can do each and every day. You are then able to mentally overcome any obstacle that may come your way.
Failure equals feedback
The real failure is not being prepared- not doing the work so you put yourself in the best possible situation.
Confidence comes from within. YOUR confidence is YOUR belief in YOUR abilities. It has nothing to do with anyone else. You aren’t born with it. You’ve earned it through PREPARATION.
Preparation breeds confidence. This is nothing new, but it takes work.
And it’s a MUST that we make a habit of being confident because the way you do anything, is the way you do everything.
So- do it confidently. Each and Everyday.
Have faith.
Be sure.
Trust.
Believe.
Close your eyes and create a personal highlight reel of all your best moments. Picture yourself playing your best, over and over and over again.
A bright, vivid picture of success. That’s victory.
Hold tight to that image in your head, refuse to let go of it, and let your preparation and confidence do the rest.
Try it!
The next time you walk on the field… do so with confidence.
Confidently walk the field knowing that your preparation is enough.
Remember, confidence is the difference-maker. Your confidence is YOURS, YOU are in control of it, YOU own it, and no one can take it from YOU, unless YOU let them.
DO NOT LET THEM.
